the kings are in town

last night we went to see the river boat parade thing at waterfront. so many roads were blocked to clear the way for the kings who are here for the opening of the dewan undangan negeri and the persidangan raja-raja. we tried so many times to get past the police road blocks. pong wee was so funny, he was so excited and desperate to watch. it was supposed to start at 7 but when we arrived at 9, it still hadn't started.

the kings arrived in the first boat , but cannot see them also. the 2nd boat was quite nice (no pictures coz i was lazy), then the next few were a bit boring. and they moved so slowly! the boringest boat stopped in front of us for so long. then we saw another nice boat, with a hornbill head and moving wings and tail and a waving cat on top (picture on the front page of today's borneo post). then it was too hot so we went to drink at hilton and didn't really pay attention to the show anymore until there were fireworks! the fireworks were really nice and it went on for quite long. got heart-shaped one summore. so cool. haha. and it ended with some really pretty ones which lit up the whole sky with colourful rainy sparks. even the waitresses were watching excitedly.

after the fireworks we sat until the agong came back (the agong and a few sultans were staying at hilton) coz shing was determined to meet some famous people. haha. the waitresses were also excited. we stood a few feet away from the red carpet and got to see the agong and his wife, and the sultan of selangor (i think). their security was like so minimal. they just walked past with a few people and waved a bit. then we went out and looked at their cars parked at the entrance and a couple of ang mohs were taking pictures with the agong's car. more sakai than us. haha.
