short one
back from italy 2 days ago. a little darker now. pictures are mostly with yannee, haven't gotten them yet. my parents are arriving later. supposedly for my graduation, but since that's not happening anymore, i'll be taking them around for a few days. updates after that.
summer hols
4 days in birkbeck court and so far the worst thing here is the shower (refer to previous post). it's made of plastic. wth. when u step on the floor, you can feel it bending. there's only a small ledge which can fit 2 or 3 small bottles so you have to put stuff on the floor. and it's so small that when you bend down to pick up your shampoo or whatever, your ass might touch the wall or your head might touch the shower curtain or something. and the water pressure's low too. but at least there's hot water i guess.
anyways, the juniors are arriving today and i'm off to italy later. see you in 2 weeks.
moving to birkbeck court
yesterday everyone had to move out by 10am. we have to leave james blyth court so the juniors can move in next week. there's eelynn with our stuff outside jbc, and other people's stuff all around. so much stuff! we had to wait til 2pm before we could get keys to our new place at birkbeck court so we just hung around and also skipped lunch.

we finally got our keys and our place is on the top (4th) floor! :( the guys helped us lug our stuff up and then we also helped them with theirs. urghh jbc was so much better. one apartment here has 6 rooms (jbc had 4) and some people are sharing rooms. the rooms and kitchen/living room area, etc are all smaller. here's our corridor.
here's my room. so tiring, have to pack, move out, move in, unpack. my bedsheets are missing coz i just did my laundry.
my internet and phone didn't work yesterday coz they plugged the phone cable into the port-thingy for the internet and i plugged my lan cable into the other hole. luckily i decided to try switching them and it worked.
the stupid room doors automatically lock unless you push a small button up. it's so easy to get yourself locked out if you just forget to push the little button. eelynn got locked out yesterday before we found out about the button.
the toilet with oh, the horror! separate taps for hot and cold water!! (the cold water tap is partially cut off in this picture) nooo!!!! also, the lousy toilet cannot flush properly. when you flush, the tissue still remains sometimes. and this morning i had to flush like 5 times to get my shit down. wth.
the tiny claustrophobic shower. and the door to the shower room cannot lock properly.
there are two sinks behind the shower, one of which has a permanently leaking hot water tap.
the living room with other people's stuff everywhere. spot the tv.
and finally, the kitchen. at least there are 2 fridges.
crosswords
today i just remembered that there is something i like to do besides laze around and watch stuff. i like crosswords! my high school english teachers used to give us cryptic crosswords to do and i used to enjoy it. if i remember correctly, shing and i liked to do it but hui didn't. haha. and in imu van and i would occasionally do the crossword in the newspaper. crosswords are fun! haha. and there was another kind of puzzle that our english teachers gave us, where we try to figure out who did what or who owned what..something like that. can't remember what it's called.
anyway, kah wei asked me out for hot chocolate at peckhams. then just as we left peckhams it started raining so we ran to borders for refuge. we spent maybe an hour reading there but it when we checked, it was still raining. then i thought of buying a crossword book. so me and kah wei went downstairs and looked for a crossword book that isn't too hard. i settled for a 'two-speed crossword' book which gives two sets of clues for each crossword - one cryptic and the other normal (which both give the same answer). then we spent maybe another hour doing the crosswords and it was fun. i introduced kah wei to the coolness of cryptic crosswords. haha.
so. i had a good time. it took my mind off things. and now i have my own crossword book!
no graduation for me
i realised i couldn't get distinction a few semesters ago, but i still hoped to get credit. but hope is no use when you don't work hard enough. and viva (oral exam for borderline marks, etc) this morning was terrible. they wouldn't tell us what to study and came up with lots of random questions. i studied all the wrong stuff. i couldn't answer anything they asked me. i have terribly short-term memory so i couldn't remember what i studied for the exams. i cried when i left the room, knowing that i didn't do well in viva.
at the very last moments before the results were released online this afternoon, all i hoped for was a pass. but it turns out i failed one paper so i cannot graduate this june. stupid paper in which they want you to analyze a journal article but don't give you enough time. so many people couldn't finish the paper. i have to resit it in july or august, probably back in imu. and when i pass it, i'll only graduate with a pass. sigh. graduating with a pass would be my own fault but dammit! if it weren't for this stupid paper at least i would graduate in june, and my parents wouldn't be too disappointed and have to waste their money cancelling their flights and stuff. sigh. a foreboding of things to come...4 more years of misery...
