update

yesterday i spent one and a half hours of my 3 hour lab session scrutinizing 2mL ampoules to look for any tiny particles inside. four of us had to go through 325 ampoules. tomorrow i might have to strip to my underwear with 5 other girls and change into a sterile suit. :/

then after class, we went to buy phones! i had been waiting for my bank statement to buy a contract phone but in the end we decided that pay-as-you-go(prepaid) is cheaper. i'd been in a dilemma since sunday, unable to decide between a sony ericsson w810i or a nokia 6300 which would both cost 100 pounds. finally i gave up and decided to get the 6300 which i'd been planning to get from the beginning. van and naz got sony ericsson phones.

the shower has been cold lately. :~(

lauders

fire!

the fire alarm rang in the during lab this morning and we had to go out and stand on the grass. it was pretty cold in my labcoat but those who had changed into sterile suits for a different lab were even colder coz they were only wearing their underwear under the suit, and were sent home to change. the rest of us in labcoats were sent to the library for a little while coz it's warmer there. anyway, while standing on the grass, three fire engines came and the firemen went in to check the building. turned out some machines had caught fire somehow. when we re-entered the building, we could smell smoke.

we went back to class about an hour later. and then group B's labs were cancelled to be replaced another day coz there's not enough time for them to complete their experiments. meanwhile, group A(my group) continued with pharmacy practice where i made so many mistakes. bah. and then my friends who are all in group B went to town while i was in lab. :( it sucks being in a different group all the time.

scotland

we finally have internet after a week here! been shopping for lots of stuff. and been walking a LOT. we went to the west end festival last weekend and walked or stood for like 7 hours! so tiring.

the sun sets at like 11pm here. the weather was nice and sunny for the first few days we were here but this morning it rained and it was so cold today. and i have to complain about their coins! they have 1 and 2 pound coins instead of notes. and all their coins are so big. they take up so much space and they're heavy! what's their problem. bah.

this sem is a really busy sem coz we have to finish it within the summer holidays so that we can join the locals in sem 7 when school restarts. we have classes 9-5 every day, with 1 or 2 hours for lunch. 2 labs a day every monday, wednesday and friday. lectures on tuesday n thursday. haih.

btw, we have this mentor-mentee system in imu where we each get a senior who can help us and give us notes and stuff. my mentor's really nice. she gave me so much stuff! notes, medicine, hangers, stationery. and best of all, she gave me two autumn n winter jackets, for 5 pounds! and also lots of ankle socks, gloves, a beanie and a matching scarf. luckily she's about the same size as me. :)

i've got lab tomorrow and i should be reading up tomorrow's experiment but i'm so lazy..
